What is Vitamin D3?
Vitamin D3 is often referred to as the sunshine vitamin, due to the fact that the body is only able to absorb this vitamin, in the presence of UV rays emitted by the sun. The body can naturally produce vitamin D3, but without the sun’s rays, it is unable to absorb it and put it to good use, meaning that it goes to waste. It is a fat soluble vitamin that the skin synthesizes naturally, and it plays a vital role in the absorption of calcium and other essential minerals and nutrients. During the winter months, people often suffer from a condition known as SAD, or Seasonal Affective Disorder, which can cause feelings of depression due to a lack of vitamin D3, because of the fact that there is so little natural daylight for several months of the year. Vitamin D3 deficiencies can result in a wide range medical disorders, which can easily be addressed by simply supplementing with this very vitamin.
How does it work?
Vitamin D3 works in a whole variety of different ways within the human body, so naturally it is able to help promote general health and wellness in a number of ways. To begin with, vitamin D3 assists with the absorption of calcium into the bones. Calcium helps to strengthen the bones and can help prevent conditions such as osteoporosis or arthritis. However, without vitamin D3, the calcium is unable to be absorbed into the bones, which is why people that suffer with a vitamin D3 deficiency, often suffer from osteoporosis later in life. It also helps to naturally lower blood pressure levels, making it ideal for people dealing with hypertension, and other related conditions. Studies have also found that it provides anti-carcinogenic benefits, meaning that it can help protect against certain strains of cancer. Vitamin D3 contains compounds which inhibit the overall invasiveness of certain strains of cancer, and can prevent cancerous cells from spreading and multiplying.
What are the benefits of using Vitamin D3 supplements?
Some of the primary benefits of Vitamin D3 include the following:
Enhanced calcium absorption rates
As mentioned, without vitamin D3, calcium would simply not be able to be absorbed into bone tissue, meaning that no matter how much milk you drank, and how many calcium-rich foods you consumed, without the vitamin, the calcium would be absorbed into soft tissue instead, meaning that it would basically go to waste as it would have no real uses at all.
Reduced blood pressure
Hypertension is one of the biggest killers in the entire world, due largely to the fact that it can cause so many other illnesses and ailments. The good news however, is that vitamin D3 supplementation could result in blood pressure levels dropping dramatically, making it an ideal supplement for people dealing with hypertension, or pre-hypertension.
Can improve mood
Studies have also found that vitamin D3 supplementation could help to improve a person’s mood and could enhance overall feelings of happiness and contentedness, making it a great supplement for people dealing with depression and SAD during the winter months.
Other benefits include:
- Prevents osteoporosis
- Increased calcium absorption
- Strengthens the immune system
- Improves mood and mental health
- Can reduce and regulate blood pressure levels
- Can provide anti-cancer benefits
- Easily absorbed
- And more...
